The MU NROTC Rifle/Pistol Team

The MU NROTC Rifle/Pistol Team is a highly competitive group of Midshipmen that love to shoot and compete.  Led by the Assistant Marine Officer of Instruction, Gunnery Sergeant Knuckles, and a Midshipmen team captain, we travel to compete in small bore shooting contests at ROTC drill meets every semester with outstanding results.  We practice the fundamentals of marksmanship and the mastery of precision target shooting in order to make some of the best shots in the nation.  Practices are designed to maximize shooting time and marksmanship proficiency.  If you are interested in joining but do not know how to shoot, do not be intimidated!  We are more than happy to teach you how to be a great shooter, and we want you to join.

FAQ’s:
Do I need my own stuff?
--> No! We provide everything, and you must use our firearms, not your personal one.

What score do I need to be competitive?
--> Do not worry about that, get some trigger time with the team and do your best.

When/Where do we practice?
--> We shoot at an indoor range outside of town a couple times per week in the evening.

What are the incentives?
--> You shouldn’t need incentives beyond loving to shoot, but there is a scholarship available, as well as individual awards at competition.  Most importantly, we practice, shoot and win as a team.  The camaraderie and team spirit is exceptionally high; it is what makes this team the most fun activity in the battalion.
